What 'shortlisted' actually means
A shortlist is not a job offer — it's an invitation to the next stage (screening, CBT, physical verification or interview). Many more people are shortlisted than hired. Missing your screening date = automatic disqualification, so check the list the day it drops.
If your name is on the list
- Print your screening slip/invitation immediately.
- Gather originals + photocopies of every credential you claimed.
- Report to the venue on the stated date — not a day late.
- Never pay anyone to "confirm" a shortlist slot.
Scam alert: fake shortlist PDFs circulate on WhatsApp within hours of every real release. The ONLY list that counts is on the official portal — and no genuine agency asks for money at shortlist stage.

How do I know if I am shortlisted for NPF?
Log into policerecruitment.gov.ng — your status shows in your dashboard. Shortlisted candidates also usually receive SMS/email.
Is the shortlist the final result?
No — shortlist = invited to screening. The final merit list comes after all screening and medical stages, often months later.
The PDF shortlist on WhatsApp shows my name — is it real?
Only trust the official portal. Fake shortlist PDFs are a known scam format in Nigeria.
